Gresham, the mid-market private equity house, has strengthened its investment team with the appointment of Alastair Mills and promotion of Tim Whittard to investment manager. Mills joins from Royal Bank Development Capital where he worked as part of the new deals team, working on a range of transactions. He started his career at HSBC investment bank in Corporate Finance origination, before joining KPMG corporate finance's private equity advisory arm, where he spent time on secondment to Bridgepoint Capital, including working on the Â£31m buyout of Instem.

Mills' permanent appointment to the Gresham investment team follows a temporary assignment to Gresham in the summer of 2003, where he was part of the London team that led an initial Â£6.6m funding package for the IT services business, 2escape2. The promotion of Tim Whittard to investment manager comes after three years at Gresham, during which time he has worked on a number of investments including the Â£4.3m investment in Blue Group and Gresham's Â£28m investment in Caradon Plumbing. Whittard previously worked at Bridgepoint Capital and PricewaterhouseCoopers, including a secondment to Paris. Gresham's investment team now comprises 16 people in total across its London, Birmingham and Manchester offices.
