ABN AMRO has announced several hires to bolster its presence as a leading adviser and provider of leveraged finance to financial sponsors. ABN AMRO aims to increase its capabilities in the leveraged finance and financial sponsor sectors, to take advantage of current valuations in the equity and M&A markets. Wieland Janssens joins as a managing director in the Financial Sponsors group from Schroder Salomon Smith Barney where he held a similar role. He will be based in London and reports to Chris Kirkness, European head of financial sponsors in the bank’s Financial Institutions & Public Sector (FIPS) group. ABN AMRO has also recruited three London-based senior team members within leverage finance reporting to Gavin Alexander, global head of structured capital in the bank’s financial markets business. Oleg Pankratov and Steve Jones join as executive directors from JP Morgan’s corporate securitisation and leveraged finance teams respectively, and Arjan van Rijn joins as a director from the leveraged finance syndicate at Deutsche Bank.
