Strathdon Investments
Strathdon Investments has appointed Dr Peter Cowley as chief scientific advisor. Cowley will provide advice and support to Strathdon and its portfolio companies on areas relating to the identification and commercialisation of new technologies. Cowley was formerly the chief scientist of research and technology at Rolls-Royce, where he was responsible for identifying and acquiring technology with relevant commercial applications. He was also a research & development project manager within Rolls-Royce Marine Power for its Ministry of Defence nuclear performance improvement programme and its private venture funded research. Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, he worked for the Ministry of Defence. He is currently a director of Quarndon Cognition Ltd, a research and development consultancy which assists industry, commerce and the public sector, including the Department of Trade and Industry, to exploit emerging technologies. Cowley is also a member of the National Measurement Advisory Committee, a government scientific advisory committee, and chairman of the Measurement for Emerging Technology Group, a new committee which oversees measurement research to build a competitive international market in products based on emerging technology.
