Providence Equity Partners has appointed Gustavo Schwed as managing director in its London office. Formerly a Morgan Stanley European partner, Schwed will focus on media and communications investments. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley's private equity division in 2000, he was chairman of Morgan Stanley's global emerging markets unit based in Brazil. He was also formerly a partner at Bassini Playfair & Associates, a Brazilian private equity firm, and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
