Scottish Equity Partners and SJ Berwin pick up awards
Scottish Equity Partners has won the Venture Capital Deal of the Year Award, for the Wolfson Microelectronics IPO, at the UK Private Equity Awards. The Awards Ceromony is organised by Real Deals magazine and the British Venture Capital Association. Wolfson's IPO was the largest technology flotation in the UK for three years, with an initial market capitalisation of approximately £214m. Its shares have continued to perform very well since the IPO and Wolfson's value has now increased to over £270m, placing the company in the FTSE 250. SJ Berwin was named Legal Adviser of the Year at the Awards, and Jonathan Blake, head of private equity at the firm, was admitted to the Hall of Fame for his services to the private equity industry over the last 20 years. Blake received this honour alongside Sir David Cooksey, and together they are the fourth and fifth members of the Hall of Fame.
