Media private equity fund launched by Maxwell and Getty
Patrick Maxwell, a founding director of Duke Street Capital, and Mark Getty of Getty Images have launched a private equity fund focused on the media sector. According to press reports, Sutton Place Managers hopes to raise £50m for its fund from high-net-worth individuals including the Getty family. Initially, Maxwell will be the lone full-time investment professional, although it is likely that the firm will look for another full-time executive. The fund plans to invest in fewer than five businesses in a buy-and-build strategy that will take companies up to seven years to secure an exit. The investments will focus particularly on the publishing industry and catalogue rights exploitation.
