Cambridge-MIT Institute aids launch of UK Innovation Futures
The Cambridge-MIT Institute has teamed with Innovation Futures.com to provide real-time estimates of the state of innovation in the UK. Innovation Futures is an online predictive marketplace run by MIT's Technology Review magazine. Innovation Futures enables the public to speculate on the prospect of key trends in the world of business and technology. UK Innovation Futures will focus on trends that reflect the state of innovation in the UK. The new UK-focused markets launching this autumn will forecast key metrics, such as trends in venture capital funding and R&D investment. The markets will also examine the potential of key technologies currently under development in the UK, such as silent aircraft, next generation drug discovery, and polymer LED displays. The original marketplace was launched in November 2003 in the US to help promote the understanding of emerging technologies and their impact. It was also identified as a powerful means of synthesizing the knowledge of the magazine's audience - which comprises researchers, venture capitalists, and technology executives - to forecast future events.
