Candover and Abingworth both scoop two awards at the annual Financial News Awards
Candover has won 'UK Private Equity Firm of the Year' at the annual Financial News Awards for Excellence in Private Equity. Candover beat CVC, which came second and Barclays Private Equity, which came third. Candover also won the 'Buyout of the Year' award alongside Cinven for the acquisition of Bertelsmann Springer, whilst Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst and Apax won the Disposal of the Year award for the flotation of Yell. Bridgepoint won the Mid-market Buyout Firm of the Year award for the second year in a row, whilst BC Partners scooped the award for buyout firm of the year. The award for buyout fundraising went to Permira. Abingworth won both the ‘Venture Capital Firm of the Year’ award and the ‘Best Venture Capital Fundraising of the Year’ award, beating other nominees such as Advent Venture Partners and Apax to win the 'Venture Capital Firm of the Year' award.
