Private equity activity up in Liverpool
Increased private equity activity is reported inLiverpool. The increased activity has beenattributed to its Objective 1 status and the launchof funds such as the Merseyside SpecialInvestment Fund (MSIF) and the North WestEquity Fund (NWEF).Investment director at MSIF, Paul Merone, saysthat in the past six months several new corporatefinanciers have moved into Liverpool and thesurroundings as a result of the increased dealactivity. Examples of new corporate financedepartments in Liverpool include Bridgegate, LBCCorporate Finance, the new corporate financedivision of Brabner Chaffe Street and SteveStuart, formerly of Ernst & Young. In addition,Dow Schofield & Watts has recently opened innearby Warrington.
