
Royal Bank Private Equity
Royal Bank Private Equity (RBPE), the private equity arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland, has announced three appointments. Ian Beattie joins RBPE as finance director of the private equity division based in Edinburgh. Previously, Beattie was financial controller at Rothschild Asset Management in London and prior to this was head of finance at Murray Johnston in Glasgow. Scott Coates joins RBPE as UK-based investment manager based in the Edinburgh office. He was previously an assistant director with Ernst & Young where he worked in an advisory capacity in the corporate finance group in Melbourne, and earlier in a similar role in Glasgow. Coates has also worked in due diligence and audit roles at Ernst & Young. Freddie Lee has been appointed investment analyst in RBPE’s London office. He joined the company from McKinsey & Co where he worked for two years as a business analyst covering sectors including financial services media and retail.
