Berwin Leighton and Paisner finalise merger
The wave of consolidation occurring within the legal profession over the past year continues apace with yet another merger finalised. City law firms Paisner & Co and Berwin Leighton have announced that they are to merge, with effect from 1 May 2001. The new firm will be known as Berwin Leighton Paisner and will be among the top 15 City law firms. Berwin Leighton Paisner will have 116 partners and 430 fee earners, including a 150 fee earner corporate practice and a 161 fee earner property practice. Neville Eisenberg will be managing partner of the enlarged firm, with Harold Paisner as senior partner, Peter Robinson as chairman of the board and Stephen Rosefield as co-chairman. Other law firms to have merged recently include Pinsent Curtis and Biddle, Baker Tilly and Fraser Russell and Rakisons and Steptoe & Johnson, the US law firm.
