£10,000 prize for best new business idea
This year’s Venturefest (June 25-26, see Diary Dates) is to be the setting for the third Oxford University Business Plan Competition, run by the university’s Saïd Business School with prizes provided by Reuters Greenhouse Fund and accountants Grant Thornton. Open to teams or individuals, the competition is designed to help entrepreneurs to secure first-stage funding by refining their ideas to an audience of business experts and industry specialists. Sixteen entrants will be invited to take part in the final round, when they will receive business plan coaching from the Grant Thornton team before making presentations to a panel of experts. Both winner and runner-up will receive £5000 worth of business advice, with the winner collecting a £10,000 prize. Entries must be submitted to the Saïd Business School by 14 May.
