DLA
DLA has appointed SJ Berwin senior equity partner, Andrew Harris, to strengthen its existing private equity and corporate team. Harris has considerable cross-border M&A experience and specializes in private equity transactions, including MBOs, MBIs, BIMBOs and acting for management teams. His clients include Graphite Capital, Englefield Capital and Laura Ashley plc. He has led teams on numerous corporate transactions and recently advised Englefield and Electra on the £212m buyout of the Group 4 Global Solutions prison management outsourcing business. Prior to joining DLA, Harris spent 6 years at Freshfields before joining SJ Berwin, where he became a partner in 2000. He will officially join DLA with effect from the beginning of September and will be based in DLA's London office. As a further boost to the firm's European mid-market private equity capability and presence, DLA has also recruited Addleshaws' private equity head, Darryl Cooke, to lead DLA's national private equity group outside London. Cooke's clients include 3i, Gresham and Barclays Private Equity. He is due to join on 1 December and will be based in DLA's Manchester office.
