
Warburg Pincus
Derek Bonham, the present chairman of Imperial Tobacco Group, has been appointed as a senior adviser at the London office of the US private equity firm Warburg Pincus. He will advise on investment activities in the general industrial and manufacturing sectors, as the firm expands its European operations. Bonham was previously chairman of Cadbury Schweppes, Newsquest and The Energy Group, as well as non-executive director of GlaxoSmithKline and Marconi. Warburg has just acquired theIrish packaging firm Clondalkin and is currently investing from its funds, Warburg Pincus International Partners ($2.5bn) and Warburg Pincus Private Equity VIII ($5.3bn).
