bmp and Durlacher agree life science joint venture
Berlin-based venture capitalist bmp AG and Durlacher plc have signed the foundation contract for a joint venture in the life science field. bmp and Durlacher will each hold a 50% stake in Durlacher bmp Life Science Ltd, which plans to invest in British life science companies - especially in biotechnology and medical technology. bmp will contribute its experience and industry know-how from the bmp Life Science AG, which already has a stake in 13 companies, whereas Durlacher will bring expertise on the British venture capital market. The publication of a research project on the British biotechnology market is also planned for the second quarter of this year, according to Stephan Tarlach, senior investment manager at bmp, who will manage the affairs of the newly founded Anglo-German enterprise. ‘On the basis of the research results, we expect to start investing in promising British life science companies in the 2nd half of 2001’, commented Tarlach.
