BVCA launches new membership category
The BVCA has announced the creation of a new membership category to cover institutional investors involved in the venture capital and private equity markets. Hitherto, full membership has been restricted to firms active in long-term equity investment with separate associate membership available to cover other interested parties. By accepting pension fund investors as members, the BVCA hopes to improve the relationship between the private equity and pension fund industries and increase institutional investors’ understanding of private equity and the reasons for investing in it. Abbey National and JP Morgan are the first institutional investors to join the BVCA.
