Viventures opens London office and appoints new directors

Vivek Tandon has been named as a new director at Viventures and was also given the remit of establishing a UK office for the group in Reading. Previously, Dr Tandon was vice president of marketing and business development at Kymata, a Scottish-based optical components company. Prior to Kymata, he was director of product marketing and management at Ciena Corporation. From 1993 to 1998, he was engineer and business development manager for British Telecom, with a particular focus on ATM, SDH (SONET), optical components, signaling, personal numbering, intelligent networks, optical fibre systems and future telecommunication multimedia services. He also co-founded VICOM Group Ltd (a bandwidth wholesale reseller). He is a graduate of Imperial College and holds a PhD in Engineering and Optical Networks from University College London.

Viventures recently closed its second fund with over Euro 638m (France â€¦unquoteâ€, February 2001, page 1) and Dr Tandon has been charged with building up Viventures investments in the UK, concentrating primarily on investments covering the telecoms, media and information technology sectors. The first Viventures fund was launched in September 1998 by Vivendi Universal and by December 31, 2000 the fund had invested â‚¬118.1m in 49 companies. Viventures Partners is headquartered in Paris and has offices in Reading, San Francisco, Singapore and Stockholm (through CGT Equity Advisors, independent advisors to Viventures Partners in the Nordic region).
