Popularity of non-executive directors on the increase for SMEs
According to research from Catapult Ventures, non-executive directors are becoming increasingly popular with small-to medium-sized companies. The report outlines that SMEs are now realising they too can benefit from an objective viewpoint when looking at all areas of the business, but most importantly when they require assistance with future strategy and growth. The report suggested that non-executive directors bring objective and independent assessment of all areas of the business performance, sector knowledge and expertise that complements the existing management. To make the process of finding an appropriate non-executive director easier, Catapult Venture Managers is launching a service called 'Non-Exec Direct'. The service is a way for SMEs to gain access to a pool of experienced non-executive directors.
