Viking Fund
The Viking Fund, which provides seed capital for technology-based early-stage companies and has yet to make an investment, has appointed Helen Morgan as operations manager. Morgan joins the Yorkshire-based fund's Normanton office. Morgan, 30, was educated in Wakefield and joins the Viking Fund from BBS Ltd where she was office manager. She joins at an important time for the fund, which is about to make its first investment. Formed with a repayable grant from the DTI's Small Business Service, the Viking Fund expects to make around 40 investments of £50,000 in early-stage businesses in the next ten years, with a lower number of second-round investments of £150,000. It has four founding partners, with experience of funding early-stage businesses.
