Venture Capitalists expect pick up in disposals
Over the next six months, almost 65% of mid-market venture capitalists and brokers believe they are likely to realise a higher number of disposals than they were able to achieve during the past six, according to a survey by Grant Thornton Corporate Finance. In 2003 there were few signs of any improvement in the exit market, which continues to pose problems for the buyout market in general. Last year a total of 232 disposals were achieved by VCs against 276 the previous year, a drop of almost 20%. Of the disposals that did take place, in excess of 43% of exits were achieved by way of receivership, 27% were trade sales, 26% management buy-ins and buyouts and just 3% flotations.
