Venture capitalists gain optimism
According to the Private Equity Confidence Survey published by Deloitte & Touche, venture capitalists have become more optimistic about the performance of their investment portfolios, future deal activity and the economy as a whole. 100% of VCs surveyed now expect the performance of their investee companies to improve or remain the same, a substantial shift from Q4 of 2002 when 63% of VCs expected a decline in portfolio performance. The survey also predicts that deal activity will recover with 58% of VCs now confident that the volume of transactions will increase in the short term and only 6% anticipating a decline in activity.
