Permira has announced that Cheryl Potter has been promoted to the position of partner and Rory Cullinan, formerly head of Equity Finance at the Royal Bank of Scotland, has joined Permira's London team. Potter has focused on the consumer sector since joining Permira's London team in 1999. She has worked on a number of transactions, including the acquisition and disposal of Homebase by the Permira funds and more recently the acquisitions of Ahold's Spanish retail operations and Vendex in the Netherlands. She joined Permira from Royal Bank Development Capital where she was an investment manager, prior to which she worked for six years at Arthur Andersen, latterly in the corporate finance division. Potter is a chartered accountant with a degree in biochemistry from the University of Liverpool.Cullinan joined Permira's London team from the Royal Bank of Scotland where he was head of equity finance and a member of the CBFM board. At RBS he substantially restructured and refocused the bank's equity businesses. Before this Cullinan was a founding partner of Verdoso, a small investment capital firm, prior to which he was the COO and CFO of Pembridge investments, which acquired DRG Plc in a hostile bid in 1989. He began his investment career at Citibank.
