Aon Ltd has announced that Robert Martin and Marcel Steward have joined the firm to set up Aon Environmental Consulting and Solutions in Aon's global risks unit. Martin and Steward join Aon from ERM, with their appointments effective from 1 July 2004, where they were the founding directors of ERM Financial Solutions Ltd. Martin has thirty years experience in insurance and financial management, including 11 years spent in South Africa, where he worked for KPMG and was also financial director of Rank Xerox (South Africa), and nine in the Isle of Man, where he was to become managing director of Sedgwick Management Services Ltd. Returning to London in 1997, he worked for what was to evolve into Marsh, becoming a senior vice president, before moving on to ERM FS. Steward has twenty years experience in environmental consulting and specialist environmental insurance. He has worked on many large urban regeneration and redevelopment projects in the UK and overseas over the past 20 years. He was one of the first specialist environmental insurance brokers and has worked with Bain Clarkson, Sedgwick and Marsh, where he headed up the UK and European environmental teams before moving to lead the European environmental unit of Marsh's mergers and acquisitions team.
