London Technology Fund launched
A £15m technology fund, financed by the London Development Agency (LDA) and the European Regional Development Fund, has been launched for investment in London-based technology start-ups. The fund was established following LDA research into support and funding for high technology start-ups in Greater London. It is intended that the London Technology Fund will address the 'equity gap' in an area of the market where traditional venture capitalists are deterred by the level of risk and uncertainty. The fund will provide finance, matched by other investors, to young businesses formed by London's universities, research institutes and entrepreneurs. The new fund will be managed by Company Guides Venture Partners and Dr Tony Diment will be its managing director.
