An undisclosed private equity firm has teamed up with Irish food group Greencore to prepare a bid for Northern Foods, the company that makes Fox's biscuits and Goodfellas pizzas.
The investment firm, which is believed to want to remain anonymous until it is certain it wishes to compete for Norhtern, could be looking to split the company between itself and Greencore in a potential takeover.
