NorthEdge hires Clearwater's Hales as head of origination

Northern-England-focused GP NorthEdge Capital has appointed Clearwater Corporate Finance’s James Hales as head of origination in its newly formed deal origination team.
Hales leaves his role as director in the deal origination team at Clearwater, having spent seven years with the firm. Prior to joining Clearwater, he spent three years as a business development executive at Pareto Law.
The deal origination team will be led by partner and head of new business Ray Stenton, who joined the GP in 2011. In addition to the identification of potential new portfolio companies, the team will also support existing companies looking to make bolt-on acquisitions.
Catherine Bucko, formerly a personal assistant at NorthEdge, will also join the new division in the role of deal origination executive. Bucko joined the firm from Altium Capital in December 2012.
NorthEdge recently held a final close for its second fund on its £300m hard-cap after just four months on the road.
