Maven appoints Finance Wales's Goward

Maven Capital Partners has appointed Finance Wales’ Melanie Goward as an investment director in its London office.
Goward will oversee early-stage technology investments in the south and south-west of England, as well as Wales.
She leaves her role as fund manager in the Wales Technology Seed Fund after six years with Finance Wales. In addition to the technology sector, Goward also has a track record of investing in the life sciences, healthcare and biotechnology sectors.
Goward also spent seven years with Nesta, where she left her role as investment director in June 2010 and three years with Lloyds TSB. Prior to joining Lloyds in February 2001, she was a PhD scientist at Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, where she worked on the Human Genome Project research team.
Maven's appointment of Goward marks an increased focus on growth capital investments for the VCT manager. It follows regulation changes first announced in 2015 that mean VCT funds are no longer able to make buyouts and face restrictions on the age of companies in which they can invest.
