LDC hires two investment directors

LDC has appointed Guy Bagshaw and John Clarke, formerly of Rothschild and Clearwater International, as investment directors in its Manchester office.
The duo will support LDC’s commitment to invest £1.2bn of equity in British small- and medium-sized companies over the next three years. They will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities, leading transactions and supporting portfolio companies.
The firm has already made two investments in the North-West in the first quarter, backing the management buyout of Chargepoint and the secondary buyout of fishawack.
Bagshaw joins from his debt advisory role at Rothschild where he was responsible for delivering mandates across the north of England. He previously worked for PwC and KPMG and has experience working on deals in the north-west, including Eurogarages and Holidaybreak.
Clarke was previously a director at Clearwater International where he advised mid-market entrepreneurs, investors and portfolio companies through all stages of a deal.
LDC has completed 13 transactions out of its Manchester office in the last three years for a total value of more than £250m. In 2016 it generated £275m in exit proceeds including a 2.6x money multiple sale on its divestment of catering group Waterfall to Elior Group.
