Maven appoints Vassallo and Dickens to north-east team
Maven Capital Partners has appointed FW Capital's Michael Vassallo as investment director and Rivers Capital Partners' Michael Dickens as investment manager in its north-east investment team.
The appointments come shortly after the GP secured the mandate to manage the £20m Finance Durham Fund, which will start making investments from May 2017. The evergreen fund will make up to 70 investments of £200,000-2m in companies based in or relocating to County Durham, in the north-east of England.
Vassallo leaves his role as senior investment executive at FW Capital after five years with the business. While at the firm, he worked on more than £10m of investments for SME investment funds.
Prior to joining FW, Vassallo spent eight years at wealth management business Brewin Dolphin, leaving his position as associate director in the equities team in October 2011. While at Brewin Dolphin, he focused on listed equities, advising clients on IPOs and capital raisings.
Dickens leaves his role as fund manager at Rivers Capital after three years at the firm. He also leaves his role as investment consultant at venture-focused corporate finance house Finance Tree, where he spent three and a half years.
The expansion of Maven's north-eastern team comes off the back of considerable growth in northern England's private equity community over recent years, as explored recently by unquote".
