August hires Mike Biddulph as partner

UK-based mid-market firm August Equity has hired Mike Biddulph as a partner.
Prior to joining August as one of the firm's four partners, Biddulph was co-founder and partner at Carta Investments, a UK vehicle seeking to invest in distressed assets. He previously co-founded and was a partner at Promethean Investments, a mid-market private equity firm focused on special situations.
Biddulph has previous history with August, though. He was notably part of August's predecessor, Kleinwort Capital, between 1998-2005. Furthermore, he has been collaborating with the GP since 2014, acting as board representative on a number of August investments.
In addition to the partner appointment, August also promoted James Bakewell to director, boosting its origination capacity. Having been with August since 2014, Bakewell will be tasked with building a pipeline of business opportunities and will undertake commercial due diligence on new investments for the GP.
August held a final close for its fourth fund on £224m earlier this month, collecting £24m more than for the vehicle's predecessor. The new fund will look to make 10 primary investments over a period of three and a half years, in addition to bolt-on acquisitions for portfolio companies.
