Maven Capital appoints Hopwood as investment director
Maven Capital Partners has appointed Craig Hopwood as an investment director in its northern team, based in Manchester.
Hopwood has 20 years' experience in the industry, with a background in corporate finance advisory and banking, as well as growth capital and private equity investments.
He joins Maven from his director role at HSBC, where he was looking after a portfolio of private-equity-backed businesses based across the northern region, including Fircroft, Tangerine and Innovia.
Prior to this, Hopwood worked in the private equity teams of Northstar Equity Investors and Spirit Capital Partners, as well as in PwC's corporate finance private equity advisory team.
Hopwood was previously part of Aberdeen Asset Management's private equity team, where he worked alongside a number of Maven executives.
At Maven, Hopwood will be responsible for sourcing and leading new growth capital and private equity investments across the north of England, and will support existing portfolio companies.
Hopwood will also help manage the £58m NPIF Maven Equity Finance fund, part of the £400m Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund that provides debt and equity financing to SMEs based in the north of England.
Maven invests in SMEs through a range of funds, including six venture capital trusts, private equity, specialist property and a number of regionally focused funds, offering equity and debt financing of up to £10m.
