Station 12 to raise £60m for venture funds
Venture capital firm Station 12 Asset Management is to raise £60m across two funds to invest in the media, entertainment and knowledge sectors.
The firm, which was founded by managing partner Patrick Bradley in 2014, will raise a £10m SEIS/EIS fund from retail investors, with another £50m vehicle dedicated to institutional investors.
The development comes two and a half years after Station 12 agreed a joint venture fund with Welsh language television channel S4C to launch five new media startups.
The new vehicles will make early- to growth-stage deals for UK-based startups. The firm will look to back businesses in emerging segments such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, blockchain and e-sports, in addition to more traditional verticals such as entertainment, music, audio-visual content and live events.
The VC's previous investments include TV distributor Parade and live events operator Nocturne.
