Investcorp appoints Ben-Gacem as co-CEO
Investcorp has appointed Hazem Ben-Gacem, who has been head of the firm's European corporate investment team since 2012, as co-CEO, to lead the company alongside Rishi Kapoor.
The appointment follows the decision of Mohammed Al-Shroogi to retire as co-CEO from August 2018. Al-Shroogi, who joined Investcorp in 2009, will remain with the firm as a senior adviser.
Daniel Lopez-Cruz, a managing director in the European corporate investment team, will succeed Ben-Gacem as head of that business.
Investcorp chief administrative officer Ramzi AbdelJaber and chief financial officer Jan Erik Back, will both report directly to the executive chairman Mohammed Alardhi.
Ben-Gacem joined Investcorp's private equity group in London in 1994 and has led the European private equity team since 2012. Prior to joining Investcorp, Ben-Gacem was a member of Credit Suisse First Boston's mergers and acquisitions team in New York.
Ben-Gacem spoke to Unquote in February for a profile piece on the firm's history and future fundraising plans.
Investcorp has $22.2bn in assets under management and employs approximately 390 people across its offices in Bahrain, New York, London, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Doha and Singapore.
