Blossom Capital hires Schroder Adveq's O'Farrell
Blossom Capital has appointed former Schroder Adveq investment manager Brett O'Farrell as venture partner.
O'Farrell will be the fifth partner at the newly founded VC firm and will initially be responsible for LP relationships and fundraising as the firm approaches a final close for its debut fund.
Blossom was founded by former Index Ventures and LocalGlobe partner Ophelia Brown in 2017, and is targeting $100m for its debut fund. It took part in its first European deal in April, a $10m series-A for online borrowing platform Fat Lama.
Prior to joining Blossom, O'Farrell was an investment manager for Schroder Adveq. He was responsible for closing 15 investments totalling €380m, comprising five direct and co-investments, six emerging managers including three first-time funds, and a secondary venture portfolio.
The move closely follows the departure of Schroder Adveq CEO Reto Schwager shortly after his appointment, as well as those of investor relations head Farah Buckley, alternatives director Silke Wood and investor relations director Christina Kimeze.
Blossom is targeting early-stage technology companies in Europe and the US. It will invest in series-A funding rounds of $5m and upwards.
