The potential deal for the veterinary group will be valued at £700m, according to Sky News, though the publication did not state whether the figure constitutes the full enterprise value.
August launched VetPartners in 2015 via the merger of three businesses based in York, Newcastle and Lincoln. The group now comprises 87 practices, many of which have multiple sites, and provides care for small, equine and farm animals.
VetPartners most recently acquired production animal veterinary group Origin in July 2018, which comprises the brands Biobest Laboratories, Garth Pig Vets, Poultry Health Services, Westpoint Farm Vets, and Kingshay Farming and Conservation.
August is invested in the company via its third fund, which closed on £200m in 2013.
A spokesperson for BC Partners declined to comment when approached by Unquote.
