Debevoise hires new funds regulatory counsel
Debevoise & Plimpton has appointed John Young as an international counsel in its funds and investment management group, based in London.
Young joins from Ropes & Gray, where he had been a counsel for the past four years. Prior to that, he held various associate positions at Dechert, Clifford Chance and Freshfields, and was also an in-house lawyer at Barclays Capital between 2010-2012.
Young will be advising asset managers on regulatory issues impacting the sector, including AIFMD, Mifid and Emir.
Debevoise has made a number of additions to its funds practice in recent months, including the hires of Matt Dickman as international counsel in London and Jennifer Graff as counsel in New York last month. It also added Patricia Volhard and Simon Witney to its European team last year. Still in Europe, the firm recently promoted John Rife III in London to partner and Jin-Hyuk Jang in Frankfurt to international counsel.
