BTPSM hires new CEO
BT Pension Scheme Management (BTPSM) has appointed Morten Nilsson to serve as chief executive officer (CEO).
In his new role, Nilsson will lead all aspects of support to the trustee, including asset and liability management, operations, administration and other member services. He will report to Paul Spencer, chairperson of the trustee of BT Pension Scheme (BTPS), and chair of the BTPSM Board.
BTPSM provides investment management services to the trustee of BTPS, the £49.3bn pension scheme for UK-based employees of British Telecommunications.
Nilsson joins from Grandhood, a digital pension business, where he served as non-executive director. He previously worked at Now: Pensions and ATP.
BTPS invests in private equity through pooled investment vehicles. The value of PE holdings within those vehicles grew from £1.3bn to £1.6bn between June 2016 and June 2017.
Hermes GPE manages the majority of BTPS's private equity allocation, where there is a global strategy deployed through private equity funds and co-investments. The pension scheme committed to Hermes GPE Private Equity Co-Investment III (PEC III) in 2015 and Hermes GPE Infrastructure fund in 2014.
