BBVA and Anthemis launch London-based fintech incubator
Spanish banking group BBVA and UK venture capital firm Anthemis have launched a London-based joint incubator for financial technology businesses.
The incubator will look to support businesses from start-up through to seed funding rounds. It will work alongside BBVA's corporate venturing arm Propel and its new digital businesses division.
Anthemis has a track record of supporting financial technology companies and launched its maiden institutionally backed fund Anthemis Venture Fund I in 2015.
The VC's recent investments include mobile SME banking service Tide, application programming interface developer Truelayer and direct lending investment platform Goji.
BBVA has launched projects including international money transfer app Tuyyo, biometric identity protection platform Covault and Denizen, an online international bank targeting expatriates.
