GVC CFO Bowtell to join Alchemy Partners
GVC Holdings CFO Paul Bowtell is leaving the gambling company after only seven months in the role to join private equity firm Alchemy Partners.
Bowtell will step down on 5 March 2019, when GVC expects to announce its 2018 annual results.
He joined the company in March 2018 on completion of GVC's acquisition of Ladbrokes Coral, where he was the CFO - he had previously worked for Gala Coral Group as CFO since 2011. Prior to that, he was CFO of First Choice Holidays and CFO of TUI Travel after its merger with First Choice Holidays. He also held a number of senior positions with Centrica, WHSmith and Forte and is currently chair of Alua Hotels, a privately owned company.
Bowtell will be replaced by Rob Wood, CFO of GVC's retail betting division Ladbrokes Coral UK, who has been appointed as deputy CFO and will take over from Bowtell in March.
Prior to joining GVC in 2012, Wood was a senior vice-president at Cerberus Capital Management for four years working with portfolio companies across Europe. Previously, he worked for NM Rothschild's corporate restructuring department and spent five years in KPMG's corporate restructuring team.
Established in 1997, Alchemy Partners is a British private equity firm specialising in investing in distressed, undervalued or underperforming businesses through debt and equity investments, refinancings, growth capital injections and restructuring transactions across Europe. The firm currently advises over £1.8bn of assets.
