Playfair appoints Avonmore's Blakey as non-exec
UK-headquartered seed capital investor Playfair Capital has appointed Avonmore Developments' Simon Blakey as non-executive director and investment committee member.
The development comes six months after Playfair launched its $32m second fund, Playfair Capital Fund II, and simultaneously appointed angel investor Chris Smith as partner. All of the fund's capital is provided by Federico Pirzio-Biroli, another angel investor.
Angel investment platforms Avonmore and Cocoon Capital, both of which Blakey co-founded with his brother, have made a number of successful exits since 2000 including OC Robotics, Bybox, Buzzmove, Omega, Pout, Commerce Decisions and Tagman.
Blakey trained as a biochemist and management accountant. Prior to launching Avonmore, he was a finance manager at J Sainsbury and a management consultant at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting.
