Truffle Invest to launch maiden PE offering
Truffle Invest, a platform providing individuals with access to private market funds, is set to launch its first private equity offering after this summer.
Unquote understands that Truffle Invest will offer investors access to a large-cap pan-European fund, which makes occasional investments outside Europe and has a track record across multiple decades.
The organisation was originally planning to launch its private equity offering earlier this year, offering commitments to pan-European buyout fund manager Cinven's seventh vehicle, as Unquote previously reported. However, the platform launch date did not work with the timing of the fund's final close.
The platform, which was launched last year, is receiving commitments from high-net-worth individuals and family offices, where the minimum investment size is £5,000.
Unquote has also learned that Truffle Invest previously backed Isomer Capital, a venture capital fund that closed in the first quarter of 2019.
Additionally, a private debt offering will be launched imminently; the offering will include access to a pan-European fund, which lends to upper-mid-market companies across sectors and geographies. The focus would be on the UK, Benelux, Scandinavia, France and Germany.
Truffle Invest will provide the opportunity for individual investors to hold private markets investments with the platform through their Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP). Truffle has collaborated with a third-party provider to develop an investment structure that can be held within SIPPs.
This is notable as it provides an opportunity for individual investors to gain exposure to private markets as part of their defined contribution pensions. Among potential investors to hold private markets investments in their SIPPs are high-net-worth individuals, workplace pensions, and existing clients of the third-party provider, as well as other interested individuals.
Truffle Invest has a business-to-business model, and it works with wealth managers, financial advisers and other intermediaries.
Unquote understands that Truffle Invest is hoping to raise €25m in 2019, and between €50-70m for 2020.
