Sovereign's Peter Shaw joins Inflexion
Peter Shaw has joined Inflexion as an investment director, having previously held a similar role at Sovereign Capital Partners.
Shaw joined Sovereign's investment team in 2013, originally focusing on the healthcare and business support services sectors. He was promoted to investment manager in 2014, and later to investment director. Prior to Sovereign, he spent three years at Dar Capital and also worked at KPMG and Societe Generale.
The move follows a series of departures from Sovereign's investment and origination teams in recent months; Unquote previously reported on 11 professionals leaving the firm since 2017. In addition to partner Neil Cox, other departures from the investment team include directors Jose Rodriguez Cesenas (who left after 15 years with the firm), Dyson Bogg (now partner at Kerogen Capital), Simon Jobson (now at Duke Street) and Sunil Jain (now partner at Synova), as well as investment executives Oliver Hedley-Whyte (now with Australian firm Odyssey Private Equity) and Alexander Postlethwaite (now with growth investor TPA Capital).
Three executives have left from the origination team: Adam Philippsohn left for BGF at the end of last year, while Oliver Wilkins and Skyler ver Bruggen left earlier this year. Ver Bruggen is now origination manager at ECI Partners.
Sovereign has meanwhile appointed two investment managers (James Dargan from Lazard and Nate Janks from Numis), and two investment executives (Matthew Rowe from Barclays and Tom Wilding from Guidepoint) in the last year. On the origination side it has appointed James Buckhalter from Deloitte's innovation practice Doblin.
Sovereign is preparing to launch its fifth fund, and is understood to be targeting £500-600m for the next vehicle.
Inflexion, meanwhile, has added 11 investment professionals to its team since the start of 2019, as well as a further four team members in support positions. Also joining in November alongside Shaw is new investment director John Breheny, who previously spent 18 months at NorthEdge.
Other Inflexion joiners this year include investment executives Alex Ford, Courtney O'Brien, Rob Dagger, Martin Karschkes, Alice Lawson, Samuel McPhail, Melanie Cambell and Verity Howells, Unquote has learned. Inflexion also hired investment director Sergio Ferrarini in May.
