IQ appoints Hirtzel as general partner
IQ Capital has appointed Simon Hirtzel as general partner and chief operating officer.
In his new role at IQ Capital, Simon will focus on building LP relationships. He will also be responsible for providing deal-level support to portfolio companies, and the execution of overall fund strategy.
Hirtzel previously served as CFO at PA Consulting Group until 2007, then as chief operating officer of Kreos Capital, a growth debt provider.
In conjunction with this hire, the firm has also appointed Georg Glatz as principal investor and Jo Slota-Newson as investor.
Glatz has experience working in startups, technology M&A and venture capital, most recently with Nauta Capital. At IQ he will be leading new investments.
Slota-Newson will be joining IQ in July 2020. She has previously worked as an investment manager at Mercia Asset Management.
This appointment follows the launch of IQ Capital's £140m IQ Fund III, which invests at seed and series-A stages; and the £100m IQ Growth Opportunities Fund, which provides later-stage capital to its existing venture portfolio.
