Mobeus hires three in growth team
Mobeus Private Equity has hired Joe Krancki as investment director, Matt Jones as investment executive and Simon Bursell as portfolio director.
Krancki joins from Frog Capital, where he was a partner and founding team member. His previous investments and board experience include Mediatonic (sold to Synova Capital and most recently acquired by Epic Games), Edited and Skimlinks.
Jones has six years of corporate finance experience working with mid-market and large-cap PE firms across a range of acquisitions, disposals and strategic investment decisions at his previous roles with HMT and more recently EY.
Bursell has spent more than 30 years working with SMEs as a corporate finance adviser. He represents Mobeus on the board of several businesses, including Caledonian Leisure, Proactive Investors and CGI.
Mobeus stated it has invested almost £65m and achieved 10 full exits averaging a 2.7x return over the last 18 months. It notably listed two businesses: ready-meals company Parsley Box (4.2x return) and online wine retailer Virgin Wines (around 7.6x return).
"Mobeus has identified a number of interesting areas of the economy that will benefit from investment and with the potential for significant value growth," partner Clive Austin said in a statement. "There are some very driven entrepreneurs and management teams who are not allowing the pandemic to deter them from grasping opportunity. The level of investment opportunities is high."
