Sun European names new healthcare managing director
Sun European Partners has hired Mark Braganza as managing director in its transactions team, based in London.
Sun European said Braganza would help spearhead its expansion into European healthcare, with the aim of replicating the success of the firm in the US healthcare market. Recent healthcare investments in the US include ClearChoice, Clinical Care Medical Centers, West Dermatology and Simply Beautiful Smiles.
According to its website, the firm currently does not have any healthcare investments in its European portfolio. According to Unquote Data, in 2011 it acquired UK-based NextPharma – a provider of manufacturing, product development, clinical trials and logistics services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies – before selling to Capvest in 2017.
Prior to joining Sun European, Braganza was a partner and founding team member at GHO Capital, a European healthcare-focused mid-market private equity business that he joined after eight years in the healthcare team at TPG. Prior to TPG, he worked in biotechnology with Chiron Corporation, as a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, and as a doctor in the UK's NHS.
