Connection Capital hires Anas Afzal as fund associate
Private client investment business Connection Capital has appointed Anas Afzal as fund associate in its alternative funds team.
Afzal joins from Aberdeen Standard, where he was a portfolio analyst on the fixed income team. Prior to that, he worked as a data scientist at a fintech startup.
He will work alongside head of funds Lorna Robertson to source and identify specialist fund managers of interest to Connection's clients, spanning strategies from private credit to venture capital.
Connection Capital is a syndicator of investment funds from private professional investors into direct private equity, private debt and commercial property deals, as well as alternative asset funds. It currently has around GBP 370m in funds under management.
Capital commitments to funds are typically GBP 3m-10m. So far in 2021, Connection Capital has made commitments to funds managed by 17Capital, SCIO Capital, Kestrel Partners and Permira Credit, and venture strategies from Hambro Perks, IQ Capital and DN Capital.
