
Capital D strengthens team with new hires and promotions
Pan-European private equity firm Capital D has announced a series of new hires and promotions and continues to remain in hire mode to support growth plans.
The GP seeks investment opportunities across various sectors, including software-as-a-service, machine learning and sustainability.
Peter Kruppa has been hired as chief financial officer and compliance officer. Kruppa was previously at DH Private Equity Partners for 18 years in various roles including CFO. He also has experience in portfolio management and transaction execution.
Marzio Bondolfi has been appointed associate. Formerly, he was in the transactions and strategy development team at Emeram Capital Partners. Bondolfi was also previously at Montana Capital Partners and Credit Suisse, where he worked on large-cap M&A and capital raising.
As well as the new appointments, the firm has promoted two individuals to partner. Daryl Cohen joined the firm in 2019 and was previously at Inflexion. Lucas Angibeau joined the firm in July 2020 and has been promoted to associate; he was previously on the TMT M&A advisory team at Arma Partners for almost two years, according to LinkedIn.
Capital D is focused on investing in European disruptive mid-market companies. According to Unquote Data, the firm's debut fund, Capital D Fund I, closed on EUR 100m in October 2018. The fund invested in mid-market technology-enabled European companies, deploying equity tickets of around EUR 20m-60m. The fund invested in Netherlands-enabled recruitment software company VONQ in October 2019, acquiring a 54% stake in the business.
The firm's new fund, Capital D Fund II, was registered in August 2020 and was set to launch in Q4 2020. According to Unquote Data, the fund will seek to invest in around six to eight companies and deploy equity of around EUR 20m-60m. The fund target was not disclosed; however, it will ultimately have around EUR 200m-300m under management.
