LDC hires ESG director from Deloitte

Mid-market sponsor LDC has appointed Alex Bexon as ESG director to support its portfolio management teams.
Bexon will help the firm pursue its own ESG commitments, which include ensuring LDC’s operations are net-zero by 2030, addressing diversity and inclusion, and continuing to champion the principles of good corporate governance, according to a press release.
Bexon joins from Deloitte, where he spent 10 years in the firm’s ESG advisory team.
LDC is committed to investing in at least 100 mid-market businesses over the next five years, according to the press release. Typically, the sponsor makes an initial investment in the GBP 10m-50m range and up to GBP 100m for partnerships to support growth strategy with follow-on funding in the long term, according to Unquote Data.
Increasingly, sponsors and advisors alike are bolstering their ESG teams to pursue various ESG-related initiatives. Among those making ESG hires were Pantheon and Aztec, appointing new ESG heads in May and April 2022 respectively; Inflexion hiring an ESG director in February 2022; and Goldman Sachs hiring an ESG director in November 2021.
