Howden hires KPMG’s O’Connor, launches capital advisory business

Insurance broker and risk consultancy Howden has hired Mary O’Connor from KPMG as CEO of HowdenCap, its new capital, advisory and placement business for financial institutions and corporates.
O’Connor was formerly acting CEO at KPMG, prior to which she was head of clients and markets. Before joining KPMG in 2018, she held roles at Willis Towers Watson as head of client, industry and business development, and global head of financial institutions.
HowdenCap will comprise the firm’s M&A, global credit solutions and surety practices, as well as regulatory capital, risk weighted assets, private equity, insolvency, tax, credit and structured finance practitioners.
Howden said in a statement that the launch of the new business line is in response to its clients’ need for more complex insurance and investment solutions. Its clients are expected to include the private equity, banking and asset management industries.
The formation of HowdenCap follows Howden’s acquisition of insurance advisory firm TigerRisk Partners.
