Connection Capital hires head of co-investment from Legal & General
Connection Capital, a specialist private client investment business, has hired Peter Knight as head of co-investment to meet the growing private investor demand for direct private equity and venture co-investment opportunities.
Knight joins from Legal & General Capital, where he was a senior investment manager and also worked within the asset management division. During his tenure at the asset management firm, he covered private equity, private debt, housing and infrastructure transactions, and managed strategic asset allocation and objective-driven funds before transitioning into the division of private assets, according to a press release.
In his new role, Knight will lead the co-investments strategy, focusing on sourcing deals from private equity and venture managers' portfolios, allowing clients to directly invest in hard-to-access deals and global companies.
Claire Madden, founder and managing partner of Connection Capital, said in the press release that Knight's appointment will allow the firm to increase capacity and meet private client appetite to further diversify their portfolios and target vast returns with direct private equity investments.
Prior examples of co-investments provided by Connection Capital include participation in the MBO of Essential Pharma alongside Headway Capital and Gyrus Capital, and in a USD 200m series C funding round for Thought Machine Group, a London-based core banking technology business, alongside IQ Capital in 2021.
Recent deals involving Connection Capital include its exit from Tempcover for a return of more than 5x money and completing investments such as the MBO of 4Wood, a Bexleyheath-based TV and film set design and building business, according to the press release.
